Detachment, Surrender and the Law of Attraction
Though I already planned to write this post early yesterday morning, a nice synchronicity came in yesterday to confirm that this is a great topic to share with you all. On one of the Joe Dispenza Facebook groups, someone was planning a week-long retreat for herself and was asking the community what components she should include in there. Another member mentioned a guy named Chad Marteney who has started a coaching practice around Dr Joe’s work and I watched his free webinar talking about how to get started with really doing the ‘work’. He was talking about how in his meditation each morning he asked the universe to help him understand what love is. He said once he let go of his desperation around wanting the answer, and detached and surrendered it to the universe, that’s when the answer appeared vividly to him in a meditation. He said it’s always the way, once you detach, that’s when it all comes in for you.
Abraham teaches us the same thing. They do so by talking about the Vortex. The idea here is that you have to trust that what you desire has been acknowledged and is being prepared for you. It’s in the Vortex. You no longer need to put any energy or thought into it, and in fact you shouldn’t, because the more you think about it, you’ll only be doing so with the energy of fear or doubt. The more you look for the arrival of the manifestation, the more you’re in a feeling space of anxiety or desperation or frustration and these are not energetically compatible with being able to attract in the beautiful thing you’re wanting.
So back to yesterday, how does this knowing that life doesn’t end but continues on, that what it means to exist is far more than this 3D body and this lifetime, help us with detachment and surrender?
Because this knowledge helps us to trust.
Personally when I feel into the knowing that this experience I’m having is just a blip in my entire existence as a consciousness which serves as the universe experiencing itself, I feel comforted. In turn, nothing feels urgent here and nothing feels very real. In contrast, when I allow my mind to focus on what appears to be happening around me, I quickly feel powerless, distressed and despondent. When I bring myself back to thinking about the stories shared by those who have had a near-death experience, I feel that I too can float above all of this so-called reality and be here for the experience that it is, which is to remember who I truly am and live only from that knowledge.
Who we truly are is our consciousness. Who we are truly is the universe experiencing itself and its own growth. We are trying to remember that just like the universe, we’re creating everything. We’re here in this mini-playroom, learning to create with physical matter. I guess it’s like a Hogwarts or something! Or a laboratory where we can experiment with being creators in a more dense energetic field.
We’re not here trying to create a masterpiece. This is not our opus. If anything, the pressure is off here. This is a remembering and a way to experiment with energy. What we create isn’t important. What’s important is remembering that we are creators and that we’re creating it all.
Let’s take a concrete example. Currently I’m interested in transforming my body into the body of my dreams, without really doing anything about that in the physical. Just as those who have healed themselves from life threatening illnesses through thought alone, I want to do the same, but aesthetically. I already workout and I don’t eat a lot of unhealthy food. I do like to drink and I eat more than I need because I enjoy it. By most standards I’m not really overweight at all. But I said dream body, not just healthy weight body.
At the moment my focus is on this desire, and I’m at the point of not trusting that I can do this. So at the moment it can’t happen. I know that I need to feel into the detachment and surrender of it to the universe so it can come in while I’m not even watching. To get to the point of detachment and surrender I need to be able to trust. To be able to trust I need to put my focus elsewhere. This might be through listening to stories of other people and inspiring myself. It might be through putting my focus on other manifestations. It might be through focusing on the essence of who I am, which is my consciousness, not my body. It might also be acting and feeling into the future version of myself who already has this dream body and living my life as she will live it, here in the now. And it is all of these things at once.
Learning to trust so that you can surrender is an essential component to understanding the Law of Attraction. You’ll know you’re doing it when you have the feeling that you’re floating above whatever the thing is that you were wanting or concerned about. When you know that the desire or the situation isn’t really real, but just a perception of the physical, that’s when you’ve detached. When you know the situation around you in the world isn’t really real, you’ve detached from it. When you know your body as you perceive it isn’t really real, then you’ve detached from it and are allowing a different version to come in.
